Late October in My Neighborhood.

Grasses and trees are still green and fresh.

It's autumn!

What is the most cherished in autumn? The spectacular colors! The trees are changing their “green uniforms” into their new colorful “dress”.

It's October. The average temperature here is still a kind of warm and nice, the day is F 81 degree (C 27 degree) and night is F 56 (C 13 degree).

This morning, when I just opened the door, I can feel the autumn breeze. The temperature was a little bit cooler than the morning before. It was F 48 degree (C 9 degree) at 6.00 A.M. and still dark outside.

I took a short walk around my neighborhood at day time. The grasses and trees have not changed yet. They are still fresh and green.

The chlorophylls are still dominance in the leaves of deciduous trees They are in good conditions and able doing their job for photosynthesis. They are covering up the other pigments of leaves.

Bright sky in the evening Autumn

In couples more weeks, when the weather get cooler and the days get shorter, the chlorophylls in the deciduous trees will break down and reveal their new colors:
- red from antochyanin,
- orange from carotene
- yellow from xanthophyll
- brown from tannis.

They are so magnificent. Then, they will fall off.

I took a photo picturing the clear sky in my way to Paneera Bread bakery/cafe at Jefferson Hwy for a bowl of Autumn Squash Soup.

How about with autumn season in your place? Is there any special food to eat?

  2. We don't have seasons in Malaysia. We are in equator and the weather here are hot and humid all year long.

Now we are facing daily raining as Monsoon are making its appearance. Really hope that those in the East Malaysia will be safe as normally they are the one who will be affected by the Monsoon.

  7. Heiiii Evi!!So nice to see your place!!Not autumm at all??Wow!!where do you live??I should like to stay in a place with such warmth :))

Over here it is autumm yes and snow is on the high mountains like Geilo and so on..Soon its coming to my town any day now..what we eat is Fårikål Fårikål (Norwegian pronunciation: [foːrɪkɔl]) is a traditional Norwegian dish and also considered the national dish of the country. Consisting of pieces of mutton with bone, cabbage, whole black pepper and often a little wheat flour, cooked for several hours in a casserole, traditionally served with potatoes boiled in their skins. The dish is typically prepared in early autumn.Later we will now have out Julebord..Julebord (Norwegian; Swedish julbord; Danish julefrokost) is a Scandinavian feast or banquet in the days before Christmas in December, and partly in November, where there is served traditional Christmas food and alcoholic beverages, often in the form of a buffet. The julebord is organized by employers or organizations and others for the employees or members. Originally, the julebord belonged to Christmas itself, i.e. the period from Christmas Day and onwards.

Many julebords are characterized by large amounts of food and drink, both traditional and new, hot and cold dishes. There is often lively partying and the party can be an important social meeting place for colleagues. Julebords are a popular tradition that creates high season for the restaurant industry, the taxi industry and ferry companies Fjord Line, Stena Line, DFDS, Hurtigruten and Color Line during these months. Norwegian revelers spends billions of Kroner on food and beverages alone..we usually get very drunk and heavy head next day hahahhaha

    Greetings from Norway!

Here in the Pacific NW, the air is crispy and autumn color is almost peak - really beautiful! But the seasonal rains are beginning... Though it will probably rain every day, it does not rain all day & the air is be washed and crystal clear. A good trade-off.
Food? Typical comfort food now. The smells are amazing:)

  24. Beautiful and happy description you make of autumn, Evi, in my favorite season, when in reality the wise nature strips so that its leaves do not suffer the harshest winter and waiting for spring ...

In Buenos Aires the autumn is magnificent, everything smells like hot chocolate and caramelized... and it sounds like this, in case you want to start to know it.
