Could Papaya Tenderize Meat Naturally?

Fig 01- A half cut papaya

I see papaya whenever I visit a big super-center such as Walmart. It seems many papaya consumers in the USA.

Papaya is believed as native fruit from South America, then spread all over tropical countries.

People consume papaya for many purposes:

- source of nutrients

- medicine

- as vegetable in form of salad.

- used as a natural tenderize

In some tropical countries, people use papaya as a natural tenderizer for meat and chicken.

In addition to papaya, they use the following items:

- tea

- ginger

- pineapple

Fig 02- Papaya ready to peel up

However, it is said that papaya is one of the best “traditional” tenderizers. Easy and cheap to get it.

Fig 03- Papaya is a sweet fruit.

Papaya contain Proteolytic enzymes called as papain. This enzyme could break collagen (proteins) down. Hence, our meat will be tender.

The price of papaya is quite cheap, less than US$ 2 per pound, and even cheaper in ethnic groceries.

We consume this fruit as source of nutrients. Papaya riches in:

- fiber

- vitamins (C, A, B9)

- Potassium

- carbohydrates

Have you tried papaya? What do you like of papaya?

Like Crazy, “a wild child cares for the wild woman who raised him”

Like Crazy, a book cover

The phenomena of mental disorders are about the same. The signs and symptoms are overlapping to get to know the classification of disorders.

When the symptoms are still mild and still tolerable, we think that these are just his or her characters and moods.

Many people who suffer of mental disorder are not aware that they have kind of disorder. Some of their acts lead to a danger and a crime https://www.evierlindastayhealthy.com/search?q=joker

Saucer Magnolia trees in the Louisiana State University Campus

Fig 01- Saucer Magnolia.

It was in the beginning of February when we walked around Louisiana State University (LSU) Campus.

The LSU campus was still quiet in this Spring Semester, so there were not many students walked around.

One of the signs that spring arrive here coming from the Saucer Magnolia trees.

In the LSU campus Baton Rouge grow many big Magnolia trees.

The Saucer Magnolia trees are always attractive when they are blooming. I always admire their beauty.

I took photos of them. The trees were not full blooming yet. I would come back to take photo when the trees full with their flowers.

Sadly, the next days, temperature was dropped to16 F (-8 C) for 2 days.

It was wintry weather, then the flowers of Magnolia were fading from the hard freeze.

Fig 02- Saucer Magnolia Trees in the LSU Campus

I was quite upset that I missed the stunning blooms but the trunks. By this time, I am happy to look those flowers at my friends' blogs.

Fig 03- Branches of magnolia

These blogs have magnificent blooms. Lovely and beautiful flowers of magnolia from Europe.

Fig 04- upper part of magnolia tree

The tree is a Magnolia × soulangean. And every year he gets more handsome set of flowers announcing spring”, Laura mentions in her blog This is how I like the world:

Another blog is Marisa's blog, Marisa's Closet LOOK NÂș 625 - THE PANDEMIC DIARY!

In her pandemic diary, Marisa looks gorgeous in her trench coat with the white-pink-purple Saucer Magnolia flowers around her.

I can't believe it is about spring.

Happy vernal equinox!

Start to Walk in the Morning Regularly

Jogging path nearby our neighborhood

After stopping a while, we start to walk regularly, at least 3 times a week for 30 minutes.

Compared to one year during Covid 19 pandemic, we found unusual crowd in walking path at our neighborhood recently.

No, life is not normal yet like before pandemic, but at least we saw new hope on the people eyes.

Vaccines distribution seems very smooth in our state, Louisiana. We will have 3 brands of vaccines soon:

- Biontech- Pfizer, already administered

- Moderna

- Johnson & Johnson.

People look like favor to Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Two reasons:

- need one shot only

- success in medical trials in new virus variants setting.

A group of people are jogging and walking

As you might know, the health benefits of 30 minute walking daily (you may find through internet search):

- reduce excess body fat

- boost endurance

- reduce risk of health diseases.

- good for type 2 diabetes patients.

Some people walk daily to reduce their body weight, it is because walking will burn about 200 calories from store fat.

Our purposes of regular walking are:

- to boost endurance

- to stabilize blood pressure

Whatever the goals in daily walking or jogging, hope, we turn to normal live soon.

Daylight Saving Time and the Broken Dreams

Fig 01- Daylight Saving Time.

Dark purple viola flowers cherish the days. The weather is getting warmer. The day becomes longer. These are some signs that the spring is appearing.

Do not waste the daylight, save it.

Sunday, March 14th, at 2.00 am, daylight saving time will begin here, so on the 14th, an hour forward.

When the clock changes, especially an hour forward, it alters our equilibrium life. For example, our sleep cycles and progress dreams.

Usually, we pass through four or five complete sleep cycle pernight, four stages of NREM sleep and a period of REM sleep per cycle.

Due to the clock goes an hour forward, it cuts this cycles.

Our dreams take place during both NREM and REM sleep.

The scientists mentioned dreams in REM sleep are more vivid and elaborate, and Kyger, et al (2011) believed that these dreams are functionally important to learning, memory processing, and adaptation to stress.

Fig 02- Dark purple Viola.

REM dreams breakthrough in content throughout the night. The dreams could about the current concerns, daily events, conversations and emotional experiences, childhood or other events in the past, and vague futures.

Fig 03- Viola flowers in the corner

It could be true that personality influences the quality of dreams. Many depressed people dream of helplessness, broken dreams. Some of people in some times fear about their bizarre dreams.

The dreams also able to delete wild fantasies. Some of us believe that dreams are symbolic signs for something.

But, many people have never aware about their dreams, or not able to recall their dreams, or totally forget about their dreams when they just awoke.

Talking about dreams and broken dreams, here, I would like to share a video by Green Day from the album American Idiot:

 “Boulevard Of Broken Dreams”

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating..… ….Check my vital signs To know I'm still alive, and I walk alone I walk alone, I walk alone...”

Conclusively, the event of an hour forward can disturb our sleep cycles and dreams, and it can cause decrease alertness, inability to concentrate, and slowed reaction. Just be alert during doing activities in the day, drive safely, watch the beating of heart, check the vital signs, and Happy Spring!

Do you know that song? Are you concerned about your dreams?

An Outdoor Music Concert in Our City

Fig 01- Concert preparation.

We saw crowd in the public spaces such as gardens, groceries and even restaurants in our state, Louisiana since couple weeks ago.

It might be at least relate to two possibilities:

1) positive cases of Covid 19 has decreased so much, from 6,876 cases in January 6, 2021 to be 518 cases only in March 5, 2021

2) At least 750,000 people have been vaccinated or about 17% of population.

Regular outdoor activities, include concerts and sports are seen in the parks and gardens. Two popular sports in our neighborhood:

- soccer

- football

However, people still practicing corona virus prevention measures to reduce the spreading:

- social distancing

- wearing mask

Fig 02- A conductor in action

One of our city orchestras performed in the garden of our neighborhood last weekend.

Fig 03- Some musicians in the show.

The performance was enjoyed by no less than 100 people, sitting in a quite social distances.

What interest me that they played musics created by well known composers.

Thomas Bergersen is one of my favorite composers. Three of my favorite musics from Thomas Bergersen are:

- heart of courage

- victory

- colors of love

Finally, I hope that other cities back to normal before Covid 19 pandemic.

Varieties and Colors of Poinsettia Plants

Fig 01- White Poinsettia.

I knew a Poinsettia plant has plenty colors, but I really don’t know the plant has more than 100 varieties.

In term of colors, some favorite colors of Poinsettia plant are:

- white

- pink

- yellow

- purple

- red

- green

- yellow

- bi-colors (multiple colors)

Interestingly that Poinsettia plants can change their colors through process called as photo-periodism.

It is plants reaction to the length of light in nature, hence, photo-periodism process could stimulate the plants to blooming (changing their colors).

Fig 02- Pink color of Poinsettia

Hence, theoretically, we can manipulate length of light to produce certain colors of Poinsettia plants.

Fig 03- Bicolor of Poinsettia

In fact, many people have exploited light length to make poinsettia colors of their desire.

Just for example, people love red for Christmas display. To make red Poinsettia, Growing a Greener World (2013) suggested following steps:

- put the plant in the dark room for 14 hours, start from afternoon to whole nights for as long as 8 weeks to 10 weeks.

- no disruption of light in the night. Totally dark.

- let plants get light in the day for no more than 10 hours. Then, again, darkness in the night.

- start this at least 2 months before Christmas. Hence, red blooming in the Christmas.

Actually, I never tried this photo-periodism process. I will try it in the near future.

How about you? Have you tried to change Poinsettia colors?

The Proper Times to Take Pills
