Instant Grits from Quaker for a Quick Supper

Fig 01- Instant Grits of Quaker

A friend of mine brought her favorite food into our workplace.  It seemed I had never seen that kind of food.

When I looked at it closely, wow, delicious grits with chicken liver. She is a great chef, this chicken liver was so good.

I tried many flavors of grits, the latest one was Jalapeno cheddar grits.

In Walmart grocery, there are plenty of Grits, from bulk grits to the small packets, and many flavors with different brands and types.

Some brands of Grits include:

- Quaker

- Great Value

- Palmetto Farms

- Aunt Jemima

- Bob’s Red Mill

- Jim Dandy

I had chosen instant Grits from Quaker brand, the simple reason is reasonable price. 1 oz packet with 12 counts for US$ 2.28 only. The price per count is cents 19, not bad.

How do you like grits? I like simple and easy grits for breakfast in the morning.

To make Grits, I empty small packet of grits into a small bowl, then pour boiling water. Stir. Ready to eat.

Fig 03- Vegetables and chicken’s liver, mixed with Grits.

For a quick supper, I like to make grits combine with shrimps or crawfish tails. Now, I got an idea from my friend, cooking grits with the chicken's liver and mixed vegetables.

Grits is good for breakfast. Some people said that Grits is bad for health, others argued that Grits contain good iron and calcium.

As said by its manufacturer that Quaker instants Grits contains:

- Degerminated White Corn

- Salt

- Calcium Carbonate

- Reduced Iron

- B Vitamins: Niacinamide, Thiamin Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid

In addition that Grits have zero fat!

  9. I have never tasted semolina flavored like this. There is no one on the market here. But that is not an impediment, it is a matter of doing it yourself, right? I will try it. It looks exquisite.

  28. I must confess I have never eaten grits in this manner, nor have I seen them under this form. When I saw you photo I thought it was cous cous or millet. I am sure it is very tasty and noutritious, I actually love grints and if I get to have them in this form I will certainly try your recipe.
